(IMO), do not remove the sting guard. It is better to wait for drop it. You can make injure to the ray and to cause possibles diseases.

>Good news i use a tweezer hold on to the rubber tube the ray move foward and walah the tube slip right off with ease...no injuries...... add half dose of melafix ...30mins later the ray was eating and swimming happly less two rubber tube without suffering a scratch......
